Raymond James "Jim" Bellmore, 87, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Friday morning, June 22, 2018, at Country Manor in Davenport, Iowa.

A private service with Natural Journey Farewell with Cremation has taken place. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Raymond James Bellmore was born on January 28, 1931 in Clinton, Michigan, to Robert and Ruth (Buble) Bellmore. He was a 1948 graduate of Clinton, Michigan High School and then served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years as a Petty Officer and Hospital Corpsman. He married Janeane Davidson and to this union two children were born, Julie and Vickie. He later married Nancy E. (Scott) Jones in 1971 and she had four children, Carolyn, Mary, Melanie and Jodie.

Upon receiving an honorable discharge, "Jim" became a tool and die maker working for Clinton Engines, Bendex and Caterpillar.

"Jim" had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa and the Woodcarver's Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, wood carving, painting, and reading books. He loved dogs and had a special knack for birds.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Carolyn (Gerald) Laughlin of Maquoketa, IA, Jody (John) Unmuth of Appleton, WI, Julie Bellmore of Yukon, OK, and Vicki Bellmore of IA; a brother Don Bellmore of AZ; 16 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother William, sisters Sally and Roberta, his wife Nancy on December 1, 2005, a grandson Jeffrey Caven, and daughters Mary Swett and Melanie Kirk.
