Mary Jane Hogg, eldest daughter of Robert S. and Mary Jane Dutton Hogg was born near Iron Hill, Iowa, November 5, 1887, and has lived most of her life in Jackson county with the exception of eleven years spent at Wilton and one year at Oxford, Johnson county.

At the age of 18 years, on January 1, 1886, she was united in marriage to Luke L. Edwards who passed from this life on May 19, 1932. To this union was born five sons and two daughters, two sons Eli and Henry preceded their parents in death. Those left to mourn are Pearl, Mrs. James Johnson, of Baldwin; Angeline, Mrs. Harry Johnson, of Monmouth and at whose home she passed away; Lawrence of Porterville, Calif.; and Dewey and Elmer of West Branch. She also leaves seven sisters and one brother, Margaret of Reynolds N.D.; Olive of Dubuque; Eunice Clark in Louisiana; Minnie Poole in Kansas City; Clara Clark of Preston; Dolly Murray of Maquoketa; Viola Edwards of Davenport, and Edison Hogg of Fulton. She also leaves 18 grandchildren and three great grand children.

The funeral was held at the home of Mrs. Harry Johnson at one o'clock and at the Iron Hill church at 2 o'clock with burial beside her husband in the family burial ground The Streets Cemetery, Friday afternoon.
