Obituary for Robert H. Stephany
Robert “Bob” H. Stephany, 66, of Springbrook, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.

Funeral services for Bob will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Friday evening from 4 to 7 P.M. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and again on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. also at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bellevue.

Bob was born on February 16, 1951 in Bellevue, Iowa the 2nd son of Hilaire & Daphne (Brown) Stephany. He married Judi Zeimet on September 4, 1971 at Sts Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook.

Bob’s education included Grades 1-7 at SS Peter & Paul School in Springbrook and Country School for 8th grade. While attending country school, Bob walked 1/8 mile each morning to haul back the school’s daily water supply. He graduated from Marquette High School Bellevue in 1969.

Bob’s employment included Lord Baltimore in Clinton, Don Neubert at Bellevue Creamery and FS in Miles. He started his own trucking business in 1979 and the rest, as they say, is history.

Bob was a member of the Springbrook Jaycees; the Bellevue Knights of Columbus; Springbrook Fire Department for 42 years, where he was known for making the breakfast pancakes; and SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, where he helped grill chicken for many years at the annual parish Chicken Barbecue.

Bob, Judi and their family spent their vacations visiting friends and relatives. Since Bob’s retirement, he & Judi have continued their travels.

Although a big piece of Bob’s heart was buried with his son Luke, his grandsons Caden and Kaleb surely gave his life renewed purpose.

Bob enjoyed his “toys”: a 1934 Chevy Classic, 1940 H Farmall, and a 2016 Free Wheeler, among others. He enjoyed being a member of the Hawkeye Motorcycle Club and Jackson County ATV Club. Over the years Bob also painted many tractors–some his own and some for friends. Bob enjoyed listening to the oldies and cheering for Oakland Raiders and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 46 years, Judi Stephany of Springbrook; daughter, Laura (Tom) Nauman, of Madison Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Caden and Kaleb Stephany and their mother Erin; Siblings, Paul (Sharon) Stephany, of Dubuque, Betty (Mike) Pitts, of Springbrook, Mary Stephany, of Maquoketa and John Stephany, of Bellevue; and mother in-law, Helen Zeimet, of Springbrook.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Luke; and father in-law Harold Zeimet.
