Obituary for Barbara S Anderson
Barbara S. Anderson, age 68 of Preston, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 9, 2018 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston. Burial will take place in Preston Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2018 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston. Memorials may be given to St. John’s, Susan G. Komen Dept. 41831 P.O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Barb was born July 8, 1949, in Iowa City, the daughter of John Fredrick and Lois (Billings) Boeye. She attended Red Oak High School in Red Oak, Iowa and graduated with the Class of 1967. After high school, Barb attended the University of Iowa where she received her Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree in 1972. While attending college, Barb met the love of her life Kenneth Anderson and they married on June 17, 1972. They celebrated 45 years of marriage. Barb and Ken owned and operated Anderson Pharmacy in Preston for 41 years.

Barb was a Girl Scout all her life and held many positions including Grants Farm Day Camp Director in Preston. She was a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston, she was also very active in the Preston community. Barb was a two-time cancer survivor. She enjoyed cooking, reading, doing a daily crossword puzzle and attending Iowa Hawkeye football games. Barb cherished the time she spent with her friends and family.

Barb will be dearly missed by husband Ken; two daughters, Jennifer (John) Lane of Williamsburg, Iowa, Wendy (Erik) Aanonson of Bondurant, Iowa; grandchildren, Annalissa, Sam Lane, Jaycie, Natalie Aanonson; brothers, Bill (Jenny) Boeye of Red Oak and Bob (Peggy) Boeye of Red Oak. Barb was preceded in death by her parents.
