Richard D. Eggers, 84, of Andrew was called home Wednesday afternoon, July 19th, 2017 at Finley Hospital in Dubuque. He entered heaven peacefully surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 25 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Bellevue. Burial will take place in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Andrew. Visitation for Richard will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home, Bellevue and again Tuesday morning from 9:00-10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.

Richard was born on September 15th, 1932 in Bellevue, the son of William and Carolena (Setzepfandt) Eggers. He married Delores Hingtgen on May 27, 1952.

Richard started farming in 1953 on a farm north of Andrew. Farming was very important to him, he loved his animals and farm land. Richard was very proud to farm with his son, Dick since 1980.

Richard’s passion of farming showed by the many boards he served on as well as the many awards he received. Aside from agricultural organizations, Richard also served as the Andrew Bank Director and was an original member of the Benefited Fire District Board at Andrew.

Richard was a very generous person who always was there to help others in need. He appreciated everything he was given in life. He loved his wife and was proud of his family, he enjoyed every minute he spent with them. He will be deeply missed.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 65 years, Delores Eggers, of Andrew; four children, Deborah (Karl) Malouff, of Austin Texas, Randy (Lori) Eggers, of Roseville, California, Richard “Dick” Eggers Jr., of Andrew and Jackie (Doug) McClaflin, of Maquoketa; son in-law, Dennis Heiar, of Walcott; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and four sisters in-law, Joyce Mahnke, Ora Eggers, Vi Roeder and Janet Hingtgen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Mary Jo Heiar; two brothers, Willard and Walter “Bill” Eggers; and a sister, Betty Daugherty.
