Edward Seeberger, 96, of Maquoketa passed away January 21, 2018 at his home in Maquoketa, Iowa.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 am. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 25 at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Edward was born on the family farm in South Fork Township on May 22, 1921 to Otto A. and Ruby C. (Wing) Seeberger, the fourth of eight children. He attended Hurstville School and graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1940.
Ed served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946; In the U.S., France and Germany. He married his high school sweetheart, Margret Campbell on June 24, 1944 in Camp Butner, North Carolina before being shipped overseas.
Ed sold Ford cars until the 70’s and then went into real estate. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Fr. Loosbroook council 8269 and the VFW.
He is survived by one sister, Pat (Ron) Schlesch of Three Rivers, MI, also surviving are his two children; Andrew (Sue) Seeberger of Dubuque, Diane (Jim) Paxinos of Hot Springs Village, AR, seven grandchildren; Wesley, Wade and Wynne Hanchar, Melissa Saxe, Phillip, Amanda and Anthony Seeberger and 13 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Margret, brothers James and Otto; and sisters Myrle Schlidgen, Dorothy Long, Catherine Schroeder and Helene Seeberger.
