Cathy Jo Koranda, 58, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Monday morning, November 27, 2017, at her home.

Friends and family may gather in remembrance of Cathy on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Cathy Jo Koranda was born on March 30, 1959 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Milo and Phyllis Jean (Mullett) Koranda. She attended Midland Community Schools in Wyoming, Iowa.

Cathy had worked various jobs throughout her life including Crestridge Nursing Home, K.J.'s Convenience, and Can City all in Maquoketa, and Casey's General Store and Holly's Supermarket, both in Wyoming, Iowa.

Cathy enjoyed playing bingo, thrift shopping and spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Casey Marie Brooks of Maquoketa, IA, and Curtis John Brooks of Maquoketa, IA; 3 grandchildren, Hunter, Payton and Bentley Walker; and siblings, Julie (Wayne) Cummings of Central City, IA, Wendy (Mitzi) Koranda of Wyoming, IA, Vickie Moreth of Maquoketa, IA, and Ronnie Koranda of UT. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Cathy Jo Koranda memorial fund has been established.
