Kenneth J. "Ken" Leppert, age 87, of Bellevue, Iowa, was called home peacefully at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at home, surrounded by his loving family. To celebrate and honor Ken's life, a service of remembrance will be held in May of 2018. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

Ken was born on April 3, 1930, in Dubuque, son of Joseph A. and Lucille (Erner) Leppert

Ken was united in marriage to his soul-mate, Grace Clark, on September 23, 1950. They were blessed with 3 children, and fortunate enough to enjoy over 64 wonderful years of marriage together before she was called home ahead of him on March 14, 2015. Ken honorably served his country with the U.S. Navy, and then continued on with the Army Corps of Engineers as the Head Lockman at Bellevue Lock and Dam #12, until his eventual retirement in 1985. Ken always enjoyed spending his free-time on the water's edge with a fishing pole, or wandering the timber with a shotgun in hand, but what truly brought Ken peace was the simple solitude of country living. He and Grace created their own little paradise which they thoroughly enjoyed during their years together. We are absolutely saddened that Ken has completed his 87 year earthly journey this week, but thankfully we discover real peace in knowing that he is celebrating this Thanksgiving with his loving wife, children and siblings who were called home ahead of him. We miss you Ken and will definitely cherish the memories and stories you leave behind.
