James R. Harvey, 68, 3560 Pennsylvania Ave., recently of Waterloo, Iowa, died at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, Iowa, with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, St. Donatus, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home, 1145 Locust St., and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

James was employed at Dubuque John Deere and John Deere Product Engineering Center, Waterloo. He retired in 1993, after 39 years.

He was born Sept. 24, 1929, in Algona, Iowa, son of R.A. and Erma (Zanke) Harvey. He married Shirley Hueneke on June 18, 1955, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Dubuque.

He was a graduate of Burt (Iowa) High School and Iowa State University, Ames, in 1951. He was a member of the Waterloo Rotary Club, and a very active volunteer at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, since retirement.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley; two children, Robert (Sally) Harvey, of Zurich, Switzerland, and Jane Harvey, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Lauren, Caroline and Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark, in 1957; and a sister, Shirley Patterson, in 1977.

Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Cemetery Fund, St. Donatus.
