GARY BINNS

Gary F. Binns, 71, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Monday morning, April 15, 2013, at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa, surrounded by his family.

A celebration of Gary's life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 20, 2013, from the East Iron Hill Community Church, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Friday, April 19, 2013, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be at the East Iron Hill Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa, with military honors.

Gary Franklin Binns was born on December 8, 1941 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Glen Fred and Maribel (Freeman) Binns. He grew up in the rural Maquoketa area and had attended Jackson County country schools prior to graduating from Maquoketa High School in 1959. He then entered the U.S. Navy serving his country honorably. He married Mary Jane Welch on August 23, 1964 in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Gary was a lifelong farmer and an all-around handyman.

He was a member of the Maquoketa American Legion Post #75 and the East Iron Hill Community Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking and hunting, especially deer hunting. His family was number one, and he was very close with his mom always looking after each other.

Those left to honor Gary's memory include his wife, Mary Binns of Maquoketa, IA; daughters, Michelle (Kevin) Hager of Bellevue, IA, Trisha (David) Jaehrling of Storm Lake, IA, Kathleen (Juan) Resendiz of Zion, IL, and Mara'Lee Nikkel of Maquoketa, IA; his mother, Maribel Binns of Maquoketa, IA; 11 grandchildren, Melissa Trenkamp, Megan (Justin) Dusil, Joshua (Britney) Randolph, Jacob Randolph, Kimberlee Jaehrling, Stephanie Resendiz, Alexander Resendiz, Alexia Resendiz, Jonathan Nikkel, Renee Nikkel and Trinity Nikkel; 4 great-grandchildren, Addison Trenkamp, Garrison Dusil, Seth Randolph and Zachary Randolph. He was preceded in death by his father, and an infant brother.
