DEATH OF JAMES McDERMOTT

James McDermott, one of the early settlers of Dubuque County, died, aged 73 years, at his residence in Prairie Creek Township yesterday morning at 6 o’clock. Mr. McD. Was born in the County of Galway, Ireland, July 4, 1804. He immigrated to this country when a young man, and came to Dubuque County in 1833. For a number of years he resided in this city, but finally removed to Prairie Creek Township where the evening of his life had been spent. He leaves a widow and nine sons. The funeral will take place at 2 o’clock this afternoon. The remains will be interred in the cemetery in Garryowen.

During his long residence in this county Mr. McDermott had many friends, and his death will be deeply felt in the community in which he had so long resided.
