PATRICK T. AHERN

Patrick T. Ahern, 64, died suddenly from a heart attack at his Garryowen farm home, Sunday morning at 7:30 o'clock.

Mr. Ahern and family had started for Mass. About 1 1/2 miles from home the car became mired in the mud. After vainly trying to extricate it, Mr. Ahern and two of his sons returned to the farm for the tractor just as he started the machine, Mr. Ahern suffered the fatal attack.

Funeral services were held from the Devaney Funeral Home to St. Patrick's church, Garryowen, Wednesday morning. The pastor Rev. Thos. O'Toole celebrated the Requiem High Mass and delivered an appropriate sermon. Fr O'Toole also gave the absolution at the graveside in St. Patrick's cemetery.

Patrick Ahern was born September 13, 1885 in Garryowen, the son of the late Daniel and Mary (Donovan) Ahern. Mr. Ahern spent his entire lifetime in that community. He received his education in the schools there and spent his adult years in farming.

On August 24, 1926 he was united in Holy Matrimony with Miss Regenia Dwyer at Assumption church, Sylvia, who together with three daughters — Misses Mary Margaret and Lucille, of Dubuque, and Madeline, at home; four sons — Joseph, Lawrence, James and Anthony, at home, survive his untimely passing. Two brothers — Jeremiah, of Garryowen, and Dennis, of Maquoketa, also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Pallbearers were Albert Gregorich, Chris Donovan, Clem Donovan, Pat Dwyer, Leo Dwyer, Dan Coakley, Otis Bersley, Adolph Mesch.

Compliments of Joseph Cahill
