Martha M. Hutchins, 83, of 1051 Bonnie Court, died at 8:40 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011, at home, surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29, at Nativity Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Hutchins, SVD, and the Rev. James Bergin, SVD, officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Garryowen Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a wake service at 3 p.m. with Deacon David McGhee.

She was born on Sept. 4, 1927, in Bernard, Iowa, daughter of Michael and Grace (Cannon) Molony. She married William Hutchins on Oct. 12, 1948, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Garryowen.

Martha was a long-time teacher in the Dubuque parochial and public school systems.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her Catholic faith and Irish heritage.

Surviving are her husband, William; seven children, the Rev. Michael Hutchins, SVD, of Weldon, Iowa, William (Kay) Hutchins Jr., of Cascade, Iowa, Patrick (Margaret) Hutchins, of Bernard, Kevin Hutchins, of Epworth, Iowa, Kelly Hutchins, of Laurel, Iowa, Marysue Hutchins, of Dubuque, and Mark Hutchins, of Evansville, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anne Feeney, of Bernard, and Rita Della Valle, of San Rafael, Calif.; two brothers, Richard Molony, of Bernard, and Patrick (Elaine) Molony, of Peosta, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Madelyn Connolly and a brother-in-law, Robert (Carol) Hutchins, of Bernard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Frances Anglin and Sr. Sheila Molony, RSM; and three brothers, Michael, John and James Molony.
