Prominent North Garryowen Resident Called to Reward

Mrs. Frank Noonan, 63, Died at her home Thursday morning last week; Final rites Monday

Husband, 5 Sons Survive

Mrs. Frank Noonan, 63, member of a widely known North Garryowen family, died at her home Thursday, April 25, 1957 at 8:30 a.m. She had been ill for two months, and a patient in Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, one month. She died the morning following her return from the hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday morning, April 29, 1957, from the Devaney Funeral Home at 9:30 o'clock to St. Patrick's church, North Garryowen. The pastor, Rev. James Cassidy, offered the Requiem Mass and preached the sermon. Present in the sanctuary were Rt. Rev. Msgr. Justin Driscoll, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Ament, Very Rev. Msgr. Luby, Rev. William O’Brien, Rev. Kurt, Rev. Ernsdorf, Rev. Kirk, Rev. Albert Manternach.

Interment was made in the parish cemetery with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Driscoll and Rev. Cassidy giving the absolution at the graveside.

Mae Mary[?], daughter of the late Joseph and Ellen[?] Welsh Budde, was born in Otter Creek on September 25, 1894. She received her education there and on April 14, 1914 in Sacred Heart church, Maquoketa, she was united in marriage with Frank Noonan.

The young couple commenced farming in North Garryowen which was to be the home of Mrs. Noonan throughout all of the years allotted to her. Five sons were born to the couple: Paul of Davenport; Francis of Dubuque; William of Bernard; Glenn of Bernard and Gerard of Dubuque.

Other survivors are two brothers, Alfred Budde of Maquoketa; Elmer Budde of Clinton; three sisters, Mrs. Estella Welch of DeWitt; Mrs. Lionel Shea of Maquoketa; Mrs. Robert (Ines) Halligan of Davenport. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren.

A member of St. Patrick's parish, North Garryowen, she was also a member of its Rosary Society.

Casket bearers were Merlin Reddin, Vincent Henneberry, George Kueter, Jerry O'Connell, John Otting, Albert Stickley, Wilfred Staner, John Knapp.

Honorary pallbearers included William Driscoll, Walter Noonan, Joseph Noonan, William McDevitt, Elmer Hazer, Harold Noonan, Leo Budde, Dale March.
