Gerald W. Feeney

BERNARD, Iowa -- Services for Gerald W. Feeney, 78, of Bernard will be at 10:30 am Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, North Garryowen, rural Bernard.

Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 pm today at the Ed Siegert-Al Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where the rosary will be said at 4:30 pm.

Mr. Feeney was co-owner of Bernard Feed & Sales. He also was a livestock buyer for Dubuque Packing Co. for many years before his retirement.

He was born on Oct. 30, 1911, in Bernard, son of Patrick "Bill" and Mary Rose (Cannon) Feeney. He died at 9:20 am Wednesday, Nov. 1, 1989, at the Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa, of cancer.

He married Anne Molony on May 29, 1948, at St. Patrick's Church, North Garryowen; she survives.

He was a member of the Bernard Commercial Club, Dubuque County Democratic Central Committee for many years, Jackson County Historical Society and was one of the original members of the Prairie League Baseball Team. He was past president of the Bernard Telephone Co.; a delegate to the 1960 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles, and worked on the Senatorial and Congressional Election Committee.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Dan (Grace) Mozena of New Delhi, India, Mrs. Robert (Sheila) Viel of Oconomowoc, Wis., and Mrs. Michael (Mary) Wilfer of Abingdon, Md.; five sons, Patrick Feeney of Shawnee, Kan., Thomas Feeney of Verona, Wis., Michael and John Feeney, both of Bernard, and Jerry Feeney of Davenport; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mary Catherine Coleman of Minneapolis, Minn., and five brothers, Joseph Feeney of Chicago, William and Bob Feeney, both of Dubuque, and Thomas and Loras Feeney, both of Milwaukee.

A Gerald W. Feeney Memorial Fund has been established.
