Cascade Pioneer, May 15, 1913, page 1, column 4

Mrs. F. B. Flanigan

Ella Lamey Flanigan was born in Wyoming twp., Jones county, Iowa, on March 16, 1874, and died at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, May 3, 1913, after a short illness.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lamey who resided on farm near Monmouth Iowa.

Her early training well fitted her for a business career. She was for a time an able assistant in the store of W. E. Lamey of Maquoketa and later was a valued member of the firm of Lamey & Spoon of Onslow.

She won the friendship of all by her genial ways and business characteristics.

On February 21, 1906 she was married to F. B. Flanigan of Cascade who took his bride to his farm near Bernard. To this union were born three children: Howard Edward, Mary Kathryn, and Bernice Eileen, who will miss the care of a devoted mother.

The funeral took place at Garry Owen. Requiem mass was lead by Rev. P. J. Coffey, who in well chosen words paid a fitting tribute to her character.

The six sisters of the deceased were honorary pall bearers, while the casket was borne by John Lamey, Dr. Joe, Thos., and Jas. Flanigan, W. P. Connery, and Thomas Fagan.

The floral tributes were beautiful. She leaves to mourn bur untimely loss a bereaved husband, a mother, one brother, J. T. Lamey of Monmouth, Iowa, and the following sisters: Margaret of Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, Mrs. F. J Edwards of Wyoming, Iowa, Mrs. W. P. Connery of Anamosa, Iowa; Theresa, Martha and Alice of Monmouth, lowa. These with numerous other relatives and friends will miss the unselfish interest always shown them by the deceased.

She led a noble life which was full of grand ideals, and we may well say that a place is now vacant in our hearts which never can be filled.

Compliments of Joseph Cahill
