Mrs. Catherine Melloy

Mrs. Catherine Melloy, an aged and respected woman, died at her place of residence on the old homestead, near Washington Mills, Thursday, April 10, at 1:30 a. m. She had been an invalid for four years.

Mrs. Melloy's maiden name was Catherine Cannon, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Cannon, and she was born in County Donegal, Ireland, in 1846, came to America with her parents in 1854 and settled at Benton, Wis. She was married there to James Melloy.

During her long life in the neighborhood Mrs. Melloy was highly respected by all who knew her, and beloved by her children and surviving relatives. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic church and went to her final reward sustained and consoled by the last rites of her religious faith.

She is survived by three sons, James C. and W. J. Melloy, of Bernard; and Daniel, at home; and four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Cox, of Bernard; Mrs. W. A. Clark, of Dubuque; and Susana and Mary E., at home; also sixteen grandchildren.

The funeral services were held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Patrick's Church, Garryowen, Rev. D. P. Mulcahy officiating.

The pallbearers were Walter Melloy, Joe Cannon, Joseph Sweeney, Pat Melloy, Paul Cannon, William Walsh, William Feeney and Michael Sullivan.
