Old Settlers Gone.

DEATH OF MICHAEL REDDIN.

Michael Reddin, an old and highly respected citizen of Butler township, Jackson County, died at his residence near Garry Owen on Sunday morning, the 18th inst.

He was born in the county of Cork, Ireland, in 1801, and therefore had reached the ripe age of 82 years. He emigrated to the United States in 1820, locating in Pennsylvania where he was married and remained three years. From thence he moved to Ohio, where he resided until 1841 when he came west to Iowa, locating in Butler, Jackson county, where he resided up to the time of his death, therefore had been a resident of Jackson county for 41 years.

He has raised a large and respectable family, fourteen children, of whom twelve are living, namely: Michael, James, Patrick, John, Thomas, William, Frank, (Maurice deceased), Edward, (Mary deceased), Mrs. John Moore, of Washington, Mrs. James Ryan, of Ozark, Lizzie and Rosanna. His aged wife, now 80 years old, survives him and in health that promises years to come.

There were present at the funeral all the
children, twelve in number, six of whom are married, and were accompanied by husbands and wives and with the grand and great grand
children made a total 66 immediate members of the family. Frank and James reside in St. Louis; Thomas and Edward in Dubuque; John resides in Cascade, and the balance of the family in Jackson county near the old family homestead. Mr. Reddin was a man universally
respected was a warm friend and an honorable man in every respect. The funeral obsequies took place on Tuesday morning, the remains were escorted to St. Patrick's Church in Garry Owen by a large concourse of people. A high requiem
mass was said for the repose of the soul of the honored dead. Rev. J. Kelly, pastor, and Rev. L. Roche and Rev. E. O'Farrel officiating.
