Following transfer of the body from the Devaney Funeral home to the Marc Kennedy home here, funeral services for James Edward McMahon were held Monday morning to St. Patrick’s church at North Garryowen at nine o’clock where a mass of requiem was celebrated by Rev. P. F. Malone, rector.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Casket bearers were Albert Stickley, George Coyle, H. J. Dolphin, Walter Noonan, Gene Callahan and Wm. Stanton, Jr.

Mr. McMahon, a former resident to Garryowen, died Friday at his home in Chicago following a lingering illness.

Mr. McMahon was popular and well known here and everyone deeply regrets his passing and tenders condolences to the entire family.

He was born January 2, 1903 in Garryowen, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen McMahon. He was married to Mildred Kennedy of Cascade after which they resided in Chicago. At the time of his demise he was employed by the Yellow Cab Taxi Co.

Surviving are his widow; 3 daughters, Charlene, Patricia Ann and Donna Elaine; four brothers, Jack, Ray, Albert and Frank, all of Garryowen; three sisters, Mrs. C. Gaul of Chicago and Lorraine and Gertrude, both of Garryowen.

His parents preceded him in death.

Attending the funeral were Mrs. Charles Gaul and Kenneth Henry of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Frank McMahon and son, M. F.; Mrs. M. F. Collins, Mrs. Gert Corcoran; Mrs. James Waddick; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Zahina and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Carr, Mr. and Mrs. Burke, Mr. and Mrs. John Sinkey and Mr. and Mrs. W. Sinkey, all of Dubuque; Ambrose McDermott, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene McDermott and Cora Tucker of Waterloo.
