Death of Michael Callaghan

Death claimed Michael Callaghan Sunday, Oct. 29th at 6:30 p.m. at Mercy hospital, Dubuque. Mr. Callaghan was born in New York City 73 years ago, and came west with his parents when a young boy, the family locating on a farm near Garryowen. He worked at farming until three years ago when he retired and moved to Dubuque to pass his declining years. His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Callaghan, were early settlers at Garryowen and well known throughout the section.

Mr. Callaghan’s death is mourned by several nieces and nephews residing in New York. The funeral was held from Bennett’s chapel to the Cathedral Tuesday morning at 7:30 o’clock and interment was made beside his parents in the cemetery adjoining St. Patrick’s church at Garryowen.
