BERNARD, Iowa - Paul C. McDonnell, 72, 484 Stoffel Road, Bernard, died at 11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 1995, at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a Knights of Columbus rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. McDonnell farmed in the Bernard area until his retirement in 1980.

He was born on April 23, 1923, in Bernard, son of Neil and Mary (Curtis) McDonnell. He married Kathleen Rea on May 18, 1948, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fillmore.

He received his education in the Bernard area schools. He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, Garryowen, and its rosary society and the Knights of Columbus Council 930, of Cascade.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen McDonnell, of Bernard; three daughters, Mrs. Gary (Patricia) Warner, of Durango, and Mrs. Mark (Barb) Otting and Mrs. Wayne (Marilyn) Reiter, both of Cascade; a son, Neil McDonnell, of Hoffmann Estates, Ill.; seven grandchildren; five sisters, Anita Wolbers, of Dubuque, Estelle Cox, of Maquoketa, Mary Clare Driscoll, of Cascade, Margaret Ryan, of Bernard and Mrs. Ed (Theresa) Melloy, of Dubuque; two brothers, Ambrose McDonnell and Ray (and Carlene) McDonnell, both of Bernard; and a sister-in-law, Carmelene (McDonnell) Decker, of Bernard.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice McDonnell, on April 12, 1992; his parents; a sister, Helen Payne; and two brothers, Ignatius and Joseph McDonnell.

A Paul C. McDonnell Memorial Fund has been established.
