Rita Molony, 92, of Cincinnati, formerly of Dubuque, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, in Cincinnati.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Rita was born on Oct. 20, 1920, in Zwingle, Iowa, daughter of Guy and Mary (Hayes) Coakley. She received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Dubuque, took computer courses at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and graduate courses in reading at Clarke College.

She married John F. Molony on Aug. 18, 1949, at St. Patrick's Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2001.

She was a teacher for the Dubuque Community Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1986.

Rita was a member of the St. Patrick's, Garryowen, rosary society. She also belonged to historical and genealogical societies in Jackson and Dubuque counties in Iowa and Hamilton County, Cincinnati.

Rita enjoyed her grandchildren and kept in close touch with them. She liked puzzles and traveled extensively. She especially enjoyed her two trips to Ireland with Molly and John, her husband of 52 years.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Ann "Molly" Molony, of Cincinnati, Chris (Dennis) Engel, of Cincinnati, and Carmel (Mike) Cantu, of Carrollton, Texas; three grandchildren, Jenny Ray, Liz (Justin) Clark and Nick Engel; and two sisters, Marge (Merle) Mathis, of Dubuque, and Sr. Maura, of San Diego.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Coakley; and three sisters, Agnes (Gus) Pusateri, Mary Jane (Lou) Strader and Grace (Don) Milkent.

Memorials may be given to Divine Word College, Epworth, Iowa.
