CASCADE, Iowa - Kenneth Charles Menge, 55 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Cascade, died Thursday, June 11, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn., after an extended cardiac illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 15, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Bernard, with the Rev. Douglas J. Loecke officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Bernard. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where there will be a vigil service at 5 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

He was born on April 7, 1954, in Cascade, son of Raymond and Virginia Kennedy Menge. He graduated from Mount Mercy College.

He married Carla Ryan on May 1, 1976, in Bernard.

He worked as an accountant at Alliant Energy and was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

Kenneth was an avid baseball and Yankees fan. He enjoyed coaching his daughters and their teams in basketball.

Kenneth was a great husband, father, son, brother and friend, who will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Carla; two daughters, Caitlin, of Denver, Colo., and Bridget, of Cedar Rapids; his parents, Raymond and Virginia, of Cascade; a brother, Kevin (Julie), of Cascade; a sister, Jill (Kenny) Lewis, of Manchester; his mother-in-law, Margaret Ryan, of Bernard; a sister-in-law, Diane (Ted) Cobb, of New Paris, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Tom (Cheri) Ryan, of Bernard, and Wayne (Nancy Brackemyer) Ryan, of Cascade; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to All Saints Catholic Church and to the family.
