Mrs. John K. Cook died at her home, six miles southwest of Maquoketa, on April 6th, at the age of 47 yrs., 1 mo. and 20 days, her funeral was held Wednesday. Her sorrowing husband and sons, Marshall and Simon, and daughter, Mrs. F. E. Penningroth, survive to mourn Mrs. Cook's untimely demise.

Deceased had suffered from an inward cancer for some time, and last May underwent an operation, the operation did not do any lasting good, and since last September, she took gradually worse, and during the last 10 weeks she was bed fast, until death finally relieved her from all suffering.

Mr. and Mrs. Cook and their children, who left here a few years ago for Maquoketa, became quite well acquainted here during their several years residence, two miles northeast of Lowden, and they have many friends here, all of whom now deeply sympathize with the bereaved family.
