Rosemary Constance Fortmann, 87, of Beaverton, Ore., formerly of Dubuque, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, in Oregon.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, with the Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may gather after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until time of services.

She was born in Dubuque on Nov. 30, 1919, daughter of Raymond and M. Margaret (Holzem) Powers, and was raised in the family home on Cleveland Avenue.

She graduated from St. Columbkille's High School in 1938, and attended Clarke College.

She married Earle Joseph Fortmann in 1942, in Dubuque. Soon after Lt. Fortmann left for military service in Europe.

In 1949, Rosemary and Earle were divorced, went separate ways, and lived separate lives. But after the death of their respective spouses, Earle re-established contact with Rosemary and they rekindled their love. They remarried in 1992 and lived at his home near Atlanta, until shortly before Earle's death in January of 2006. Rosemary died in Beaverton. Though she lived other places, Rosemary always considered Dubuque as home.

Surviving are her sister, Ruth (Powers) Perkins; her daughter, Ginger (Fortmann) Dearey; her stepchildren, Katrinka (Fortmann) Maddox, Earle Fortmann Jr., and Timothy Fortmann. Rosemary had nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Susan, Colleen, Teniece, Melodie, Kevin, Audrey, Bailey and Jaden; and nine great-grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Sophia, Collette, Megan, Jacob, Nicole, Danielle and Eric.
