Death of Daniel O'Connell

Daniel O'Connell, one of the highly respected citizens of Butler township, near Garryowen, died at the family residence at 9 o'clock Wednesday night, and the cause of his death was heart trouble. He had been ill for many weeks. Some days ago he seemed to rally but a relapse set in and he gradually sank away at the hour mentioned.

Mr. O'Connell was born near Garryowen 57 years ago and had lived there continuously engaged in farming. His parents came to Jackson county in June 1840, and the O'Connell family is one of the oldest and best known in that section of the country.

Deceased was one of five brothers, namely: John and William of Garryowen; Patrick of Temple Hill, and James of Dubuque.

He is survived by his wife and three children, James, Timothy, and Miss Hanorah, all living at home.

The funeral was hold yesterday at 9 o'clock at St. Patrick's church, Garryowen, Rev. Father Kelly officiating.

Compliments of Joseph Cahill
