Cascade Pioneer, February 13, 1891, page 8, columns 5

The funeral of Hon. Dennis O'Brien, took place at the family residence in Prairie Creek township on Saturday last. A large concourse of friends and neighbors assembled to take a last look at the form of their honored neighbor and friend and escort the remains to St. Patrick's church at Garry Owen, where the funeral services proper took place.

The pall bearers were William Jess, Cornelius Crowley, John Phillips, Timothy Finnegan, Mathew Williams and Thomas Condon. The procession was a very large one.

The services at the church were conducted by the Rev. Father Kelly, assisted by Rev. Father Roche of Cascade, and Rev. Father Clabby of Cottonville, all warm personal friends of the deceased. The Rev. Father Roche preached the sermon and pronounced an eloquent eulogy on the character and virtues of the deceased.

The death of Dennis O'Brien is universally regretted and mourned by his neighbors and friends, for next to their beloved pastor he has been their confidential adviser for many years, and his counsel was always on the side of right and justice. He was a splendid neighbor, a warm friend, a true husband, an indulgent and loving father and a faithful member of the Catholic church.

Compliments of Joseph Cahill
