John Ahlers,whose declining healthtwas mentioned in a recent issue of the HERALD, departed this life Sunday morning at 9:30 at Moulton hospital, where he had been taken with the hopes......
Mr Ahlers had attained the age of 86 years, being born January 10, 1841, at Altona by Wildeshausen, Hanover, Germany and was a son of John and Charlotte Ahlers. His marriage to Miss Caroline Lahmeyer was solemnized in the year 1865 and in 1868 they came to this country and engaged in farming near Andrew...H was a member of the Hermitage Masonic Lodge at Andrew...His wife passed away about a year ago and one daughter Elizabeth died while they resided at Andrew. H e is survived by two daughters, Miss Lottie of Miami, Florida, Miss Clara John at home, two sons Oswald of Minneapolis, Dr. Otto C. Ahlers of Sherman, Texas, and one grandson John R. Ahlers...at Tooele, Utah. ..Burial was made in the Andrew Cemetery beside the wife and daughter. Bellevue Herald Jan 24, 1928
