Mr. E. C. Gordon fell dead from apoplexy on the sidewalk near his home in South Main street yesterday afternoon. He was down town in the forenoon and transacted business in the county clerk's office at the court house. C. H. Haight, thinking that Mr. Gordon didn't look well, asked if he were ill. Mr. Gordon answered: "I never felt better in my life." Just as he reached his gate his wife saw him fall and he died instantly. Mr. Gordon was born at Marion, Ohio, October 27, 1827. He was married to Miss Frances W. Ellis May 19, 1859. To them the following children were born: Otto Gordon of Lost Nation, Mrs. Susan Bentley, Mrs. Abbie Petersen, Mrs. Allie Robinson and Charles Gordon of this city, Alva of Cascade, Parley of Ogden City, Utah, Riley of Belle Plaine, and Albert who died in infancy. His wife died July 19, 1886. He was married again January 2, 1890, to Isabella Morehead.
