DIED-

DOWNEY: Jerry Downey was born in Springfield, Mass., Oct. 22, 1854. He was the son of Michael and Julia Downey of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Mr. Downey came to this state with his parents in 1868. He was married Oct. 19, 1881 to Mrs. Mollie Welch and died Feb. 17, 1894, aged 39 years, 3 months and 25 days. After Mr. Downey was married he lived in this city for a few years speculating in the stock business. He finally chose the occupation of farming of which he had been decidedly successful.

Mr. Downey was a man of ambition, industry and ability: a kind and dutiful husband, a good citizen and neighbor; much appreciated by his neighbors and associates, Deceased leaves a beloved wife, father, mother, four sisters and two brothers, one of which was a twin to him. In connection with the above mentioned relatives he leaves a host of friends who bitterly and sincerely mourn his loss. The funeral occurred in the M. E. church at 2 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon.
