Private Edward Schroeder Last Rites Held In Sabula On June 6

Sabula, Iowa, June 8

Private funeral services were held for Pvt. Edward J. Schroeder on June 6. The Mississippi Legion Post conducted military services at the Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. Pvt. Schroeder was born March 16, 1914, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schroeder, and spent his boyhood in Sabula. He entered service April 12, 1944, receiving his training at Camp Roberts, California. He went overseas immediately after training. He was killed in action November 30, 1944 in Germany.

Pvt. Schroeder was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by one son, James, four brothers, Ernest, Peter, Andrew and Frank, all of Sabula and five sisters, Mrs. Hazel Johnson, Rockford, Illinois, Mrs. Elsie Soderman, Clinton, Mrs. Frances Downs of Belvidere, Illinois, Mrs. Marie Olson of Sabula and Mrs. Florence Huebner of Sabula. Pallbearers were Edwin Walker, John Kuhl, Ernest Jepson, John Jepson and Herman Huebner.
