BERT TROUT, 79, OF MAQUOKETA, DIES THURSDAY
John Bert Trout, 79, local businessman, died Thursday evening in Jackson county hospital after a short illness.
The body was taken to the Carson funeral home where the service was conducted by the Rev. Bruce Dean at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
Mr. Trout was born on Feb. 7, 1871 in Maquoketa, a son of Thomas and Amanda Knittle Trout. He had been in the hardware business since he was 18 years old and was associated with the firm of Trout and Matthias at the time of his death. He was a member of the I.W.A., and the Iowa Retail Hardware association.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
