Vivian M. Menard, 91, of Luther Manor, formerly of Bellevue, Iowa, died Saturday evening, Dec. 13, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Stephen Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Kingery Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue.

Mrs. Menard was an Army dietitian and later worked at the St. Joseph Hot Lunch Program in Bellevue.

She was born on July 20, 1912, in Andrew, Iowa, daughter of Eugene and Gertrude (Becker) O'Neil. She graduated from Clarke College in 1934.

She married Col. Noel Menard on July 15, 1939, in Manila, Philippines; he preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2000.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, and its Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Bellevue Senior Citizens and the Bellevue American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed being a homemaker. She also enjoyed her family and friends and was an avid reader.

Surviving are two daughters, Laura (Kent) Wielage, of Dubuque, and Deborah Locke, of Pulaski, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Laura Ann (Dwayne) Allen, Thomas Ravelli, Jr., Christie Rosa, Chad Wielage, Karen (Bill) Freiburger and Susan (Drew) Waller; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Herman J. Kueter; and a sister, Eugenia "Babe" Blitgen.

Memorials may be given to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, and Luther Manor, Dubuque.

Vivian' s family would like to say a special thank-you to all the staff at Luther Manor for their loving care and to the nurses in cardiac medical at Mercy Medical Center.
