HONORED RESIDENT PASSES AWAY AT MAQUOKETA

Mrs. Helen M. Head, mother of Frank H. Head of Bellevue, died last Saturday. We reprint the following obituary from the Maquoketa Sentinel:
Mrs. Helen M. Head, a life long resident of this county, whose maiden name was Helen M. McCard, passed from this earthly life to her everlasting life December 19th at her home on North Eliza street at 6 a.m., aged 76 years, 11 months and 28 days, her sickness being of short duration, being one one week from the time she was taken sick.

Helen M. McCord was born in Jackson county, December 21, 1848, having lived here practcally all her life. She was united in marriage to Wm. A. Head April 20, 1876, who preceded her in death 30 years ago. To this union were born five children, of whom four are left to mourn their loss, three daughters, Mrs. Henry Sanger, Mrs. Frank Reiter and Mrs. Fred Bradley, all of this city and Frank H. Head of Bellevue; one daughter having passed away in infancy. Two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Clary and Mrs. Elvira Corey, both of Graham, Montana; also two brothers, John McCard of Junction City, Oregon, a twin brother Henry McCard of Bellevue, Iowa, and fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Head was united with the M. E. church of this city a number of years ago. She was also a member of the Woman's Relief Corps. Funeral services were held at the Esgate school house, Monday Dec. 21, with interment in the Esgate cemetery, Rev. Dunlop officiating.
