John H. W. Berner died at his home in Iowa township on Thursday, December 14, aged 78 years, 4 months and 28 days. Mr. Berner spent his younger days in Germany, having reached man's estate in that country and served three years in the war of 1848 and in 1858 came to America with his wife, settling on a farm near Reeseville. He was a carpenter by trade and followed his avocation for many years. Besides being in feeble health he has been robbed of the power of seeing, having been totally blind during the past four years. He was a devout member of the Lutheran church and the funeral services were held at the family residence at Reeceville on Sunday.
