KROLICK RITES SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY

Paratrooper Died During Action

The body of Pvt. Charles Franklin Krolick will arrive in Maquoketa Friday and funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Buchner Chapel with Rev. Maurice Powers officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Flags will fly at half-mast and Mayor A.W. Sokol in a proclamation today requested all Maquoketa businesses to close between the hours of 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. as the City pays respect to one of its' soldier dead. American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in charge of services.

Pvt. Krolick died January 3, 1945 as a result of wounds sustained during action in Belgium. He was buried at Chapel Hill in Belgium. He entered the service in 1942 as a paratrooper in the 505 Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. Pvt. Krolick saw action in some of the bitterest fighting in the European Theater.

A native Maquoketan, the youth was born here Sept. 4, 1924 and attended local schools. Surviving besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Krolick are ten brothers and sisters: Mrs. Vivian Nims, Iron Hill, Jesse of Dubuque, Floyd in service in Germany, Mrs. Maxine Galloway of Chicago, Leland of Delmar, Dale of Clinton and Bob, Ralph, Betty and Doris of Maquoketa.
