FUNERAL RITES FRIDAY AT ST. DONATUS FOR MRS. PETER KALMES

LaMotte (Special)- Mrs. Peter Kalmes, a resident of St. Donatus, passed away Monday evening at 9:50 o'clock after a few days illness of an infection of the throat at her home surrounded by her pastor, Father Krull and the members of her family.

Anna Fischer was born in Tete des Mortes township, August 12, 1853, the elder daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Fischer. She resided with her parents on the farm now owned by her brother Henry on the Bellevue ridge until Feb. 21, 1881, when she was married to Peter Kalmes at St. Donatus. Since that time she resided in St. Donatus.

To this union eight children were born, one son, Theodore of St. Donatus and seven daughters, namely Mrs. Anna Ries, Mrs. Teresa Phillips, Mrs. Mary Koening of Conrad, Montana, Mrs. Catherine Herrig, Mrs. Elizabeth Frantzen of St. Donatus, Margaret and Mrs. J. P. Davis who preceded her in death 21 years ago. She also leaves to mourn her loss 29 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, one brother, Henry and a sister, Caroline Even of Bellevue.

She was a devoted Catholic and a member of the Rosary society. The funeral will be held at St. Donatus on Friday with burial to be in the cemetery adjoining the church.
