Aaron E. Lenhart

Aaron E. Lenhart, 92, of Maquoketa, died Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa.
Funeral service will be be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Carson and Son Funeral Home in Maquoketa with the Rev. Clair Odell officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Maquoketa. An Aaron E. Lenhart Memorial Fund has been established.

Mr. Lenhart was born Nov. 5, 1905, in Burlington, the son of John and Emma Ort Lenhart. He married Frieda Purdy Jackson in 1958 in Maquoketa.

He lived in Burlington and Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School. He attended three and a half years of college at Fairfield and Des Moines. He worked for Western Electric Company in his early years, installing telephone switchboards in the larger cities of Iowa. He later farmed in the Maquoketa area for many years. He also had worked at United Building Center and Lumber Yard in Maquoketa and Andrew Creamery and Feed Store. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa.

He is survived by one son, John E. of Hemet, Calif.; two daughters, Donna L. Leathers of Fairfield and Dolores A. Collins of Letts; one brother, Arthur of Fairfield; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and one stepson, Don Jackson.
