Well-Known Citizen of Prairie Creek Dies Suddenly After Brief Illness.
Many friends in this neighborhood who were not aware of his serious condition were much surprised to hear of the death of Frank Hawkes, a well-known and popular farmer residing near Bernard, who died late Friday night. Mr. Hawkes had not been in good nealth for seven months, but few entertained the thought that his condition was serious. Mr. Hawkes was born in Prairie Creek township 48 years ago, his parents being old settlers of that township. During his early manhood he spent a number of years in and near Darlington, Wis., but sinoe that time he has lived on the old homestead. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Kinsella, who with four children survives him. He also leaves three brothers, James, Dennis, and George, and one sister, Mrs. Edward Noonan, all residing near Bernard and Garry Owen. The funeral services were held at St. Patrick's church, Garry Owen, on Sunday last, The Rev. Edward Slattery officiating.
