William Michael Rhodes was born at Canton, Iowa, April 7, 1862, and died at his late home in Hurstville, Iowa, Oct. 5, 1921, of apoplexy, age
59 years, 6 months and 1 day. Mr. Rhodes received his early education and grew to young manhood at the place of his birth. At the age of 26 years he took unto himself a life partner in Miss Mary Ellen Webster. To this union were born two children, Lon W. of Green Bay. Wis. and Lester N.. of New York City. After marriage Mr. Rhodes continued at his work in the flour mill at Canton until 28 years ago, when with his family he moved to Maquoketa. Twenty-six years ago he entered the employ of A. Hurst & Co.. first at Pinhook. working there until the works at that place were closed, after which he moved to Hurstville where he has since made his home. He was a trusted and valued employee and was held in the highest respect by his employer and friends.
He is survived.by his wife and two sons, one granddaughter, two sisters and numerous other relatives and friends. The funeral was held from-the late home at Hurstville, Iowa, Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, where a large concourse of friends and fellow workers gathered to pay their last respects to their brother worker and friend. Interment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
The two sons, Lester N. of New York City and Lon W. and little daughter of Green Bay, Wis., and the two sisters. Miss Eunice and Mrs. Minnie Bowman of Cedar Rapids were present at the funeral. Lester will remain here with his mother.
