Maquoketa Record, June 10, 1903

Hiram Madison Webster was born Dec. 27, 1829 in Onondaga County, New York, and moved with his parents to Illinois when 8 years old. Before removing to Iowa in 1856 he was married to Miss Marguerite Blackwell, who with one daughter, Mrs. Edith Dobler, remain to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. When arriving in Iowa he settled in Camanche, Clinton county, where he followed the tinner's trade for three years, after which he settled on a farm near Welton, where he remained for thirty-five years, settling in Maquoketa almost nine years ago. He had been troubled with neuralgia of the heart for two years, passing out at his home in the first ward at 2:30 o'clock Sunday morning June 7. The funeral was held at the late home this morning at 9 o'clock with burial in Welton.
