John F. 'Johnie' Payne, 85, of Stonehill Care Center,Dubuque, formerly of Key West, died Tuesday evening,November 7, 1995 at Stonehill.
Visitation was from 2-9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main Street, Dubuque, with a Wake Service at 4:30 p.m. Services were held Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Key West with burial in St. Aloysious Cemetery, South Garryowen. John, son of George C. and Josephine (O'Leary) Payne, was bom July 13, 1910 in Chicago, Illinois. He married Helen McDonnell on November 28,1935 at North Garryowen. He was a dairy farmer in Bernard and the Key West areas most of his life, then until his retirement he worked at Oakland Farms Dairy in Key West. John was a member of St. Joseph
Parish, Key West and their Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council #510 and formerly of Knights of Columbus in Cascade. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. He will be missed by all of his family. He is survived by five
daughters, Mrs. Mary (Charles) Johnson, Dubuque, Mrs. Ann (Jack) Ginter, Dubuque, Mrs. Ellen (Dave) Willis, Dubuque, Mrs. Rita (Ken) Ambrosy, Potosi, Wis., and Mrs. Sheila (Larry) Blatz, Key West; five sons, Jerry (Phyllis) Payne,
Dubuque, Bill (Karen) Payne, Key West, Jack (Betty) Payne, Riverside, California, Tim (Myra) Payne, Fullerton, California, and Ray (Colleen) Payne, Dubuque; 30 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Clara Cox, Dubuque. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen McDonnell Payne, November 16, 1987; two grandchildren, Kelly Marshal and Rosalie Blatz; a brother, George, and two sisters, Marcella Bauermeister and Rita Higuera.Cascade Pioneer Advertiser, Nov. 7, 1995
