Catharine Busch, 42, passed away Wednesday morning at her farm home northwest of Lost Nation. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church with Rev. B. J. Swede officiating.
Catharine Margaret Busch, the second oldest daughter of Peter and Margaret Schmit, was born May 11, 1898, at LaMotte, Jackson County, Iowa. At the age of five she went with her parents to live in Bellevue, where she received her education. At an early age she received the sacrament of baptism in the Christian church.
At the age of 16 she left home and traveled and toiled in Illinois, Kansas, Colorado and Iowa. In 1930 she came to Lost Nation where she cared for John Busch and step-son, Elmer Busch until she suffered a heart attack from which she did not recover.
Those who remain to mourn her loss are her aged mother, Mrs. Peter Schmidt of Bellevue; her husband and step-son, John and Elmer Busch; three sisters: Mrs. Frank Ralston of Maquoketa, Josephine Schmit of Bellevue and Mrs. Herman Schavey of Rock Island; one brother, John Schmit; and nephews and nieces.
