ELIJAH FRANKLIN PROPST
Elijah Franklin Propst was born near Monmouth, Iowa, Feb. 15, 1863 and passed away May 1, 1939 at his home near Monmouth. He was the son of Samuel and Mary Ann Pitzenberger Propst, Virginia pioneers. On March 8, 1888, he was united in marriage to Elma Conley of Onslow. They became parents of five children, two of whom passed in infancy, Elmer and Dorothy. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife and two sons, Ralph and Floyd and daughter, Lena Pence of Monmouth. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, four sisters and four brothers.
Mr. and Mrs. Prospt celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on March 8, 1938. He was an ardent lover of nature and spent his spare time budding, grafting and transplanting trees and working with bees.
