DIED

George House was born in Scotland, Ontario, May 20, 1849 and died at his home two miles south of Maquoketa, February 14, 1895. He was one of a family of twelve children, of whom nine survive him. Peter and Allen of Maquoketa are his brothers. His father is also living at an advanced age.

December 11, 1879, he married Miss Maria Kitchen. To this union three daughters were born, who with his wife are left to mourn his death. February 4th, while at work he was stricken with paralysis and lingered until the 14th, when death came to his relief.

He was a man of industrious temperate habits, a kind father and husband, who will be greatly missed. His remains were brought to the residence of his brother, Judge Allen J. House, of this city, where the largely attended funeral was held Sunday afternoon and his remains were laid to rest in Bridgeport Cemetery, Rev. S.W. Heald officiating.
