Iron Hill Resident Loses Control of Car:
Found Soon After Accident Pinned Underneath Heavy Machine.

Shortly after five o'clock Monday morning word came that the authorities in this city that the lifeless body of Thurman Larkey, who resides near Iron Hill, had been found underneath his wrecked car about two and one-half miles northwest of Maquoketa on the caves or ridge road. Mel Isbell, who lives near the scene of the accident, heard the car as it crashed to the side of the road at a sharp turn and as soon as possible rushed to the wrecked touring car to find the crushed body of the unfortunate man under the machine. A physician, Coroner Shumate, County Attorney Schoenthaler and Deputy Sheriff Gibson and the Harrison ambulance were on the scene shortly, and it was the verdict of all that Larkey had met his death by accident.

Mrs. W. Heneke of this city, mother of the victim, believes that her son had fallen asleep at the wheel, but owing to the fact that he had removed one shoe leads the officials to believe that while removing the shoe he lost control of his car which resulted in the fatal plunge. Mr. Larkey was enroute to this city when the accident occurred. The car which had evidently turned over several times, was badly damaged.
