BELLEVUE, Iowa - Attalas J. Steines, 82, 606 Market St., Bellevue, died Saturday morning, Sept. 12, 1998, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Daniel Knepper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue, where there will be a scripture service at 4 p.m. and the Bellevue Knights of Columbus will attend in a body.

He was born on March 10, 1916, in Preston, son of John and Mary (Zeimet) Steines.

He married Algean Junk on Jan. 20, 1941, in Springbrook. They farmed 10 miles west of Bellevue before retiring in 1972.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and its rosary society. He was also a member of the Bellevue Knights of Columbus Council 1354 and the Jackson County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed helping at the church as an usher and woodworking.

Surviving are his wife, Algean; two daughters, Judy (Dennis) Boeckenstedt, of Petersburg, and Angie (Jeff) Kilburg, of Bellevue; four sons, Dave (Joice), of Tucson, Ariz., Bernie (Suzi), of Bellevue, Steve (Molly), of La Motte, and Mike (Jane), of Bellevue; 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lydia Kinney, of Clinton, and Helma (Bill) Rohloff, of Cornville, Ariz.; and two brothers, Odilo (Ardis) Steines, of Bellevue, and John (Velma) Steines, of Dyersville.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Darla, in Sept. 1995; a sister, Helen Kinney; and a brother, Vincent Steines.
