Telegraph Herald, Dubuque, IA ObituarySPRINGBROOK, Iowa -- Alfred Joseph "Fritz" Tebbe Sr., 92, of Springbrook, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 27, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook, with the Rev. Paul Lippstock officiating. Burial will be in Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Springbrook. Friends may call from * to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at the church, where a vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church. The Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home, Bellevue, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on May 12, 1916, in Springbrook, son of John and Mary (Helmle) Tebbe. He married Alvina Homan on Oct. 2, 1940, in Springbrook; she preceded him in death on July 6, 2007.
Alfred spent most of his life farming and working the land. He enjoyed playing cards, having a stiff drink and spending time with his family, especially his new great-granddaughter. A man of deep faith, he prayed the rosary daily and celebrated Eucharist with his parish family at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Surviving are his son, Al (Gladys) Tebbe Jr., of Springbrook; five grandchildren, Julie Tebbe, of Sioux City, Jeffrey (Christen) Tebbe, of Dubuque, Jane Tebbe, of Indianola, Jacob (Abby) Tebbe, of Dubuque, and Joanna (fiance, Brian Chaplin), of Des Moines; a great-granddaughter, Margaret "Maggie" Tebbe; four sisters, Rosella Sullivan, of Bellevue, Regina Clasen, of Springbrook, Lavita Budde, of Preston, and Rosemary Dondlinger, of Bellevue; a brother, Sylvester "Scout" (Arlene) Tebbe, of Preston; and two sisters-in-law, Marie and Lois.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wayne; a daughter, Mary; his brothers, Elmer, Harold, Oliver "Sep," John and Richard; and a sister, Armella Clasen.
