J. Edward Mottet
(December 5, 1928 - April 10, 2010)

J. Edward "Ed" Mottet, 81 of Bellevue, died Saturday, April 10, 2010 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 14 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Kingery Funeral Home and again Wednesday morning at the funeral home after 9:30 until procession to the church.

Ed was born on December 5, 1928 in Ottumwa, Iowa, son of John and Leona (Schwartz) Mottet. He married Corinne Morgan on June 11, 1949 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ottumwa. She passed away November 19, 2001

After high school Ed attended St. Ambrose University in Davenport and later moved to Bellevue and owned and operated Mottet's Jack & Jill Grocery Store from 1964 until his retirement in 1992. Ed was a hard working man with a great sense of humor who enjoyed visiting with his customers and friends. He had a strong Catholic faith, he was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Bellevue Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with his family. He was an avid Hawkeye and Bear's fan as well as a long time suffering Cub's fan. In his later years Ed enjoyed sitting on his porch watching people.

Surviving are his four sons, Tom (Louann) Mottet, Don (Donna) Mottet, both of Bellevue, Paul (Diane) Mottet, of Florissant, MO, and Mark Mottet, of Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Marilynn (Bill) Harris, of West Des Moines, and Nancy Brandon, of Bellevue; a son in-law, Rick Dickerson, 19 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Norma) Mottet, of Maquoketa, and Ray Mottet, of Houston, Texas; a sister, Mary (Gary) Rogers, of Davenport; and two sisters in-law, Betty Louis, of Iowa City and Delores Mottet, of Ottumwa.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; daughter, Ann Dickerson; grandson, Tim Mottet; and two brothers, Jim and Frank Mottet.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, especially Dawn, Heather and Lisa for their care and compassion shown to Ed the past two years.
