Obituary - Carsons & Son Funeral Home

Albert F. Hankemeier age 83 of Maquoketa Iowa died Thursday February 1 2001 at his home in Maquoketa Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday February 5 2001 from the Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew Iowa with Rev. Neal Solomonson officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday February 4 2001 from 3 to 7 P.M. at the Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Burial will be in the Andrew Iowa Cemetery.

Albert F. Hankemeier was born on July 23 1917 in Jackson County Iowa to August Hankemeier and Luella Felderman Hankemeier. As an infant God chose Albert as His very own beloved child in the waters of Holy baptism. Years later he was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew Iowa. He married Theresa Elsner on November 10 1952 at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church in Clinton Iowa. For many years Mr. Hankemeier and his wife farmed near Andrew while raising their family. After retirement they moved to Maquoketa. Mr. Hankemeier was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew and had served on the church council. He loved farming and was an excellent steward of the land. He enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with friends and family.

He is survived by: His Wife- Theresa Hankemeier of Maquoketa IA; 3 Daughters- Jean(Mrs. Jimmy) Mayfield of Oxford Junction IA Diane Haylock of Maquoketa IA & Judy(Mrs. Aaron) Schmidt of Eldridge IA; 3 Sons- Dennis Hankemeier of Bernard IA Roger(Julie) Hankemeier of Iowa City IA & Richard Hankemeier of Salt Lake City UT; 1 Sister- Avelda(Mrs. Ray) Bahr of Andrew IA; & 9 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents one brother- Ardo Hankemeier 1 son-Allen Hankemeier and one infant grandchild.
